A head for finance.
A heart for helping others.

During 20 years as a financial advisor, I’ve helped doctors just like you—from residency to retirement—find financial peace and achieve the life they dreamed of. And like you, I don’t see my work as merely a job, but as a calling to serve others. That’s why I assume the role of fiduciary by always putting your needs ahead of my own. I’m a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and Certified Kingdom Advisor® whose mission is to help you connect your  life with your  money.

Michael Peterson, CFP®, CKA® financial wand wealth advisor for Prosperous Physician

About Me

My fiancée, Oneta, and I live in Chambersburg and share our home with our 4 little dogs and an ever-fluctuating number of parrots – thanks to Oneta’s heart for parrot rescue. I’m blessed with 4 children, 6 grandchildren, and 2 nephews – all of whom mean the world to me.

I’m an avid fly-fisherman and also enjoy tying my own flies. In addition, on weekends, you’re likely to find me in Happy Valley cheering on the Penn State football or hockey teams.

Finally, I’m active in providing pro-bono financial counseling to low-income individuals and families and helping to raise money for my family’s charity The Daisy Fund. I’m also involved in Trout Unlimited, the Penn State Alumni Association, and CBMC. In addition, I’m a member and past-trustee at The Presbyterian Church of the Falling Spring.

“Looking Out for Others.”

That was practically a family mantra, when I was growing up in the sleepy little town of Spring Run, Pennsylvania. My grandparents and my parents were always living examples of being there for others; be it a family member, neighbor, or complete stranger. I was taught that looking out for others was simply the right thing to do.

It was a lesson I learned well and have put into practice throughout my life. Whether as a volunteer fireman, as an electronics technician in the U.S. Navy, as a deacon in my church, or in my profession as a financial professional; I’ve strived to carry on my family’s tradition of looking out for others.

That passion for service, along with my uncanny knack for numbers, are probably what led me find my true calling in life: serving as a financial planner. It was Mark Twain who said,

“Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”

In my case, truer words were never spoken. I love helping my clients manage their finances in a way that allows them the financial freedom to pursue the things in life that matter most.

I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and a Certified Kingdom Advisor. I hold a B.A. in Economics from The Pennsylvania State University. Since beginning my career in 1996, I’ve specialized in helping my clients align their finances with their values and purpose so they can pursue their ideal life.

Over the course of my career, I’ve watched with regret as the financial services industry has lost its way. Conflicts of interest, ineffective advisor training, and a focus on selling products, often prevent clients from receiving the best advice. In addition, many financial services firms, especially the large ones, have lost their personal touch. Financial advisors are often guilty of making the entire financial planning process overwhelming and confusing. Worse yet, many advisors only see their clients as a set of numbers. Is it any wonder that, when it comes to trust and integrity, financial advisors rank only rank slightly ahead of politicians?

So, in 2016, I founded Faithful Steward Wealth Advisors because I wanted the freedom to serve my clients with integrity and always put their best interests first. You see, I believe clients deserve a deeper relationship, one where their financial advisor understands them just as well as they understand their money. I also believe that truly great financial planning should be about more than just the numbers. It should be about helping you use your money to live the best life possible.

Why specialize in serving physicians?

As a physician, you spend a lifetime giving of yourself. You give to your patients every day, you give time and energy to your colleagues and to bettering the medical profession. You give to your community, to charity, to your church, to your friends, and to your family. And you’re giving so much.

Your time and energy may be zapped – and you might feel like you’re being pulled in a million different directions every day. The last thing you want is to be worried about your money. Yet, the financial stress that comes with being a physician in today’s society is huge.

The truth is that physicians have it tough when it comes to their financial planning. The world around you often views you as the stereotypical “wealthy doctor” – and as a result, you’re expected to give a little more, or are viewed as a candidate for every sales pitch in the book.

You may even be facing pressure from your colleagues to “keep up” or to live a certain lifestyle. Worse still, you may be putting this same expectation on yourself! It can be easy to commit to too many financial obligations when you feel like you’re working hard and making enough money to cover it all. At the end of the day, you just wind up exhausting yourself, and feeling stretched too thin.

Few people realize the actual financial pressures you’re facing, and they may struggle to respect your boundaries as a result. And if you are the one pressuring yourself to fulfill a laundry list of financial obligations, or are struggling to prioritize your financial goals, setting boundaries both with yourself and with others can be even harder.

This is, in a nutshell, why I work with physicians. I respect all of the giving you do in a day. From your work to your home life, you are supporting others in their wellness and in their day-to-day, and I think that’s incredible. Now you need someone to support you.

You deserve to have a financial planner in your corner who’s always looking out for your best interest. Together, we’ll plan for a secure future for you and your family while still living for today, giving according to your values, and enjoying your wealth. I look forward to helping you construct a unique plan that helps you pursue your ideal life.
